GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this strong-running MGB for your consideration. The MGB is one of the most recognizable and easily attainable classic cars. The MGB offered here is powered by what is believed to be the original 1.8L 4-Cylinder engine which is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission are in strong working condition.
This MGB is finished in Old English White and this MG is not cosmetically perfect but still is a blast to drive. It has MG decals running along the side of this example that is in good condition. The black interior is also not in exceptional shape, but everything is functioning as it should.
Development of the MGB started at least as early as 1958 with the prototype known by its Abingdon codename; MG EX205. In structure the car was an innovative, modern design in 1962, utilizing a unitary structure instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types and the MGB's rival, the Triumph TR series. The MGB achieved a 0–60 mph time of just over 11 seconds. The three-bearing 1,798 cc B-Series engine produced 95 hp at 5,400 rpm – upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft. From 1975, US-market MGB engines were de-tuned to meet emission standards, ride height was increased by an inch, and distinctive rubber bumpers were fitted to meet bumper standards.
MG struck gold when it produced the "B" model. It remains a popular choice as a fun weekend car or an entry car into classic car ownership. With a large online community and many specialty shops nationwide, there is a large amount of information on the maintenance and ownership of these cars. Now is your chance to hop in an MG B and enjoy driving at its purest form. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
